Correcting a declaration with a negative amount

It’s possible that you wish to remove previously declared batteries because they have been removed ‘from the Belgian market’. If so, you must carry out a correction with a negative number. This article explains how to do this both for batteries with and without serial numbers.

Take submitted batteries without serial numbers ‘off the market’

Proceed as follows to take your batteries without serial numbers off the market. This applies for all batteries except home batteries and/or Energy Storage Systems (ESS) – see also: Which batteries require a serial number?

  • Go to ‘Declarations’ and click on the relevant declaration in the overview
  • Click ‘Correction’ – you can do this in the overview by navigating to the 3 dots (‘More’) dots-vertical at the desired declaration or by clicking open the declaration and going to the 3 dots (‘More’) dots-vertical at the top right.
  • Does it concern a battery type already listed in your declaration? Then correct the number of batteries for the relevant battery type to the corrected
  • Does it concern a negative declaration for a battery type that is not already listed in your declaration? If so, follow the same steps as for a negative declaration:
    • Click the ‘+ Add battery’ button at the top
    • Add the batteries you want to take off the market and enter a negative number starting with a minus sign (-), e.g. -10.

Take batteries submitted with serial numbers ‘off the market’

If declared home batteries and/or ESS have been taken ‘off the Belgian market’, you must correct the number of batteries and call back the previously submitted serial numbers so that we can reduce the environmental contribution paid.

Proceed as follows to take your batteries with serial numbers off the market:

  • Go to ‘Declarations’ and click on the relevant declaration in the overview
  • Click ‘Correct’ – you can do this in the overview by navigating to the 3 dots (‘More’) dots-vertical at the desired declaration or by clicking open the declaration and going to the 3 dots (‘More’) dots-vertical at the top right.
  • Click the ‘+ Add battery’ button at the top

Note: for this type of correction, do not change the quantity of the battery type involved! You must add it as a separate line with a negative number so that you can submit the serial numbers.

  • Add the batteries you want to take off the market and enter a negative number starting with a minus sign (-), e.g. -10. You will see a message that you must provide the serial number.
  • Once you have made the necessary revisions, click on ‘Review & submit’ at the bottom.
  • You will now see a pop-up listing the relevant battery types for entering serial numbers to be removed.
    • For each line of batteries that you wish to call back, enter the Brand and Model just like you did when submitting serial numbers. Finally, enter the serial number to be removed in the last column.
    • When you have completed this for all lines, click on ‘Add serial numbers’. You can only do this when you have entered the required information for all lines.
  • Once done, you can submit your correction.

Once submitted, your requested correction is sent to us for processing:

  • Battery with serial number marketed by your organisation
If the serial number is known to us as a battery that was declared by you, we will ensure the amount is deducted.
  • Battery with serial number not marketed by your organisation
If the serial number is known to us as a battery declared by another organisation, we will contact that organisation.
