A retroactive declaration is a declaration to declare batteries that you already put on the Belgian market in the period before you joined Bebat.
Why a retroactive declaration?
The obligation for retroactive declarations for a period of three years is provided for in Article 2.1. of the Regulations to the Bebat Participation Agreement. This period starts on 1 January of the third year preceding the year you joined. To this end, Bebat decided to create a level playing field between all participants. There are quite a few participants who have been affiliated with Bebat for years, and have paid the environmental contributions. It is therefore fair that companies that only join after having sold batteries for a longer period of time also regularise the past. However, Bebat decided to limit this to a period of three years.
Submitting your retroactive declaration on MyBebat
You submit a retroactive declaration in the same way as other declarations: Submitting your declaration. So as a monthly declarant, you may have to submit three retroactive declarations, each for a period of one year.
