How can I check if my Energy Storage System (ESS) has been correctly declared?
Just as with used batteries, the extended producer responsibility (EPR) also applies to Energy Storage Systems or ESS (including plug-and-play and home batteries).
It is the producer or importer of the ESS who must comply with this EPR. This is the only way you, as a consumer, can be sure that you will not face worries or unexpected costs for the collection and recycling if your ESS can no longer be repaired or needs to be replaced and thus has reached its end of life. Read more about it in this article.
To check whether your ESS meets legal requirements and has been declared to Bebat, you can use the tool on our website. Here’s how to proceed:
- Go to bebat.be/en/check-your-ess-serial-number
- Enter the serial number of your ESS. You can usually find this on:
- a sticker or plate on the modules of the ESS or on the ESS itself (S/N or Serial Number)
- the app or web portal of the battery brand
- the installation report or invoice from your installer
- Find out immediately whether your ESS has been correctly declared. If not, we will follow this up further.
- Was your serial number not found? Then contact Bebat.
