Environmental contribution or administrative contribution: what is the difference?

As a Bebat participant, there are two types of contributions you may need to pay for your batteries: environmental contribution and administrative contribution. We explain the difference in this article.

Environmental contribution

The environmental contribution is an all-encompassing contribution for batteries up to 20 kg, lead batteries up to 3 kg, and ESS batteries (Li-ion and saltwater) up to 200 kg. This contribution covers the costs of collection, pickup, sorting, recycling, prevention, communication, and reporting to the three regional authorities.

Administrative contribution

The administrative contribution applies to batteries heavier than 20 kg, lead batteries heavier than 3 kg, and ESS batteries (Li-ion and saltwater) heavier than 200 kg. This contribution only covers the costs of prevention, communication, and reporting to the authorities.

Costs for collection, pickup, sorting, processing, and recycling are therefore not included in the administrative contribution. To help you comply with these steps, we create a tailor-made price proposal.

Use the correct Bebat code

When making your declaration, you enter the Bebat code per type of battery. Each code is linked to a contribution, based on the average weight of the battery. For some codes, you must enter the weight yourself.
